Memories of grandma

**written & read by Mikaela at mom's funeral**

Dear grandma

You are one of the best grandmas I could ever ask for.

We always like colouring and I love playing board games with you.

Your favourite game was Rummikub.

I like going to the park with you.

We always like cuddling.

When I feel sad, you would always give me a hug and talk to me about it.

When I found out you had cancer, it was the saddest thing I could think about.

But now you're in heaven and have no more pain.

You're with your mommy and daddy now and more importantly you're with Jesus.

I want you to know I'm missing you.

But most of all I love you.

Such honesty from Mikaela. Your grandma was very, very proud of you. She talked about you all the time at the Gospel Lighthouse. You are her pride and joy!

Blessings in the days ahead.

Thank you, Mikaela, for your tender memories of Grandma. It was special to hear you read your letter at the funeral.
I remember you often running into the Gospel Lighthouse to get a "Grandma hug". Your feet barely touched the floor as you ran . . . and your smile was huge. You loved Grandma and that has always been evident. And, my, how Grandma loved you! She talked about you SO MUCH and that made her happy :-)
I have watched you colour pictures for her, read to her, sing to her and give her your special 'you're the best Grandma' looks. You were really her joy and she has been yours, along with Grandpa, of course.
Mikaela, Grandpa and Grandma love you so much. . . as much as Grandparents can and since they love Jesus, and you do too, that kind of loving will go on forever. Always remember as you grow older that Jesus loves you and has GREAT plans for your life and He will love you more than anyone ever will.
When you are sad, remember the happiness you had with Grandma and that will help your smile to come back.
When I miss my family members who are in heaven, I ask Jesus to tell them that I love them and I think He does that. That helps bring a smile to my face and I don't feel sad. Maybe that will help you, too.
You can talk to Jesus about everything, just like you talk to Mommy,Grandpa and your family now.

Hugs, from one of Grandma's friends, Elizabeth

Mikaela,
You tell me numerous storys about your grandma Joy! And i know that she loves you so much! And even though she isn't here with you and your family right now. She would say "I love you to much for me to let go!" And if i got a chance to see her and tell her i was your soul sister i would do anything to do that. She seems so wonderful and i want you to know that even though she went through tough times in her life that she wishes she could take back to be with you. And your poem was beautiful!
Love You,
Your Soul Sister,
